My Sick Suburb (Em…….Em/G/A……….Am/B7/Em) At the top of the skyscraper, dressed in Black, Looking down on a city wonders why he came back. In a perfect world he’d tip it all in the sea, But without this ‘suck city’ there’s no reason to be. (Chorus) My Sick suburb, another day in Sick suburb x4 “I am the only player and I am the destroyer I’m the darkness in your night and the dryness in your throat. I’m the devil in your conscience and the nagging doubt There’s a time I said I’d come and today is that day.” (Chorus) My Sick suburb, another day in Sick suburb x4 God gave me good things and god gave me wings, A hundred overlapping holes like Olympic rings. A thousand sinners gaze at the darkening skies They are fueled by their passionate evil and lies. (Chorus) My Sick suburb, another day in Sick suburb x4 (Middle 8) Am B7 Em But if you visit this suburb, ask my friends if they remember me well. If you can get a guest room, ask them if they have some kind words for me. In a pub called The White Horse, we toasted the moon but the time went past taking us too soon.

But not this time. Riff /G/A/C/B (long drum roll back in)HR 85 Picture of the singing man, Who comes to town on June the third, Causing girls to slide, and groan As if tectonic plates had cause to . . . . . stir. I love way she’s never far I’m in the band, I’m in the van Let’s get the hell out of this town I love you baby, but I choose obliv . . . . ion. The second time around the world The hundredth time into the void You’ve used it up spat it out And now you can never go home . . . again Ch. Put me up in your best hotel Send your MP for a drink Make me open the supermarket I love you town . . . . . . . . . . . . . but not this time! Picture of the swinging man, Who comes to town on June the third, Causing guys to shoot, and swear As if someone shot the moon in the . . . . . sky. The second time around the world The hundredth time into the void You’ve used it up spat it out And now you can never go home . . . again Make the curfew eleven o clock, Lock up the liquor stores at noon, Send the police over in a tank I love you town. . . . . . . . . . . . . but not this time!

Deep dark Blue Am/E7…Am/Dm/E7/Am She talks too much; she speaks all over the TV It’s Mars and Venus, and we’ll never agree Twenty years in this B&B Hell, I’m just hoping the neighbours won’t tell. She tells me that we need to go on a cruise, She says she loves the sea and the Deep Dark blue. I took my chance, no one was around, She’s overboard and now she’ll never be found. I’m gonna hide my crime deep in the blue In the biggest garbage dump she even knew They ask me where she is I said “she’s overdue” But I can still hear her voice in the Deep Dark Blue 10 years later I just can’t exist I’ve named all my horrors in an extensive list I’ll drive my car as far as it will go Down to the sea where the cold winds blow Parked up and left a last phone message Taken the song bird out of the cage. Then I know just what I will do A long, long walk into the deep dark blue I walked and walked into the deep dark Blue In the biggest garbage dump she even knew They ask me where she is I said “she’s overdue” But I can still hear her voice in the Deep Dark Blue

Following Jorges. (Em/B7) In the land of Texico Where angels fear to tread I used to be a high court Judge used to give and uphold the law I stared the sinners in the eye Said they’d pay me by and by Then with a gavel bang I sentenced them to hang. The last man I gave the eye Was a killer named Jorges Said the case just didn’t stand But he couldn’t give a damn Stood tall in the box Said “you will follow me one day” I send him down. I sent him down I sent him to the gallows row. Now some men have some secrets some men have a past My secret was a bottomless debt From gambling in the pits. When one day Tolstoy the Bookie Came knocking on my door Said “you can never pay us back, So your ass belong to us.” For ten long years the killers went free And the meek and mild went down. Then a shard of conscience stabbed my soul And I knew what I must do. I told Tolstoy that I was through I couldn’t do his dirty work no more “You can’t quit, we own you Now run along, do what I say “Have you forgotten my brother Jorges You sentenced him to death. “Do all this stuff for us Or you’ll be following Jorges.” But that shard of conscience stabbed me again And I knew what I must do. Again I told him I was through And I was sorry about Jorges Now I am not a murderer And I am not a violent man But something in me changed And my heart turned black as night An inky poison fogged my head An evil spell at once was cast. A moment that was froze in time Did shrink the very boards that day I looked for something sharp, I looked for something blunt, I looked for something heavy I looked for something hard. I found it in a paper weight Before it was too late I brought it down upon his head Remembering what he said I dashed his brains out where he lay And now I’m following Jorges. Got my own cell And now I’m following Jorges. Got my own gallows And now I’m following Jorges. And now I’m following Jorges. And now I’m following Jorges.

Bikini Quicksand. E/A/C7/B7 E/Em/B (3’10”) Walking out from the sea a Bond girl with me, And with a conch to my head she sets me so free. Wading through sand that’s creeping up to my shorts, She could save me alone with the spear gun she sports. Nuclear physicists and drunken beach bums, There’s a lot that you can teach me with my hard earned sums. In a place of paradise the promised land We’re on our way to bikini quicksand Life guard, bomb threat, quicksand and peril International rescue, trying to di-fuse the device Tell where the blast will be, tell me what’ll see, Tell me all the secrets of your chemistry. Nuclear physicists and drunken beach bums, There’s a lot that you can teach me with my hard earned sums. In a place of paradise the promised land We’re on our way to bikini quicksand Instrumental 2 bars Walking out from the sea a Bond girl with me, And with a conch to my head she sets me so free. Wading through sand that’s creeping up to my shorts, She could save me alone with the spear gun she sports. Nuclear physicists and drunken beach bums, There’s a lot that you can teach me with my hard earned sums. In a place of paradise the promised land We’re on our way to bikini quicksand We’re on our way to bikini quicksand x2 Instrumental 2 bars and then to fade end

Tower of Babel (Gm/Cm7/D7) (Gm) Stutter keeps on building his great big tower strong (Cm7) Reaching into the sky an and on and long (Gm) He built a tower of Babel reaching up to God (D7) He got a bag full of troubles and a hat fulla rain (Gm) Now Stutter found an Architect with a name of Righteous Sam (Cm7) Said Buddy we can make this, if we just combine our evil (Gm) We can build a tower of Babel reaching up to God (D7) We can forget about our troubles if I can have your soul So long to Righteous Sam died last week outside the ride Just completed his task then with a sharp pain in his side Just laid down and said his last, reaching to the stars He got a picture of his girl and Schittich at his side. Gm Cm7 But I tell you, we’re going to pull it, yeah pull it down, We’re going to pull it with a mighty sound D7 Gm We’re gonna raise it to the ground We’re gonna smash it, into the ground. Stutter keeps on building his great big tower strong Reaching into the sky an and on and long He built a tower of Babel reaching up to God But without that man called Righteous Sam the tower’s gonna fall

monologues of madness F#m/A/E…D/A/E Talking to himself there’s a man in fear He’s talking to a devil or a god who doesn’t hear There’s an anxiety he shifts from foot to foot He’s watching the bullets coming to his head. But in these monologues of madness I think he calls my name Yes in these monologues of madness I think he calls my name He’s clutching at straws not waving but drowning There’s a solitary pain that he can’t give a name Be my sponsor my temptation be my doctor Be the thing that doesn’t kill me be my protector But in these monologues of madness I think he calls my name Yes in these monologues of madness I think he calls my name So who are you talking to is it someone I know Because in these monologues of madness I heard you call my name

The Endgame check out Club in E A geisha girl and a dapper fool, collided with a singing dupe And founded among them on the hour the Endgame check out club, After a while among the throng a parson and a rapper too The task at hand they kept recruiting and filled the bar with hullabaloo. The Parson challenged the singing dupe to howl before the moon And bring the wrath of god before to strike his very soul in two. Oh Singing dupe, a dupe by name, drew breath and howled his lungs And sure enough the skies did part and crisped him in a single flash, “Oh Parson you worship a cruel god”, the geisha girl did cry And placed with shortened breath a flask of absinthe on the top “Here’s to your god I curse him here and may your innards turn to oil.” The parson quick, snatched up the draught and smiling chugged it down His face then turned from red to white to blue and then to violet And sure enough his guts did ooze all about the staggering riot And splashed about upon the floor like a tuna on a deck And all around it caused the throng to stretch its scrawny neck The rapper with his box of rhymes took exception to the dapper fool “You dress like a fop and there’s air of a dandy about yourself” The dapper fool produced a cane and there appeared a deadly foil “Then feel my steel you nazi oaf, the dapper fool ran him clean through. And one by one they all check out, all but the geisha and the fool Their work is done they can move on they take their Endgame check out club, Take it out and take it strong the endgame check out club Take it out and take it strong the endgame check out club Across the town, and in the night, along the coast that feels just right To move it on, to reconvene the Endgame check out club. Across the town, and in the night, along the coast that feels just right To move it on, to reconvene the Endgame check out club.

The End of the Blue Am (A riff bass) C E7 We’re coming back to our uncertain home town We’re reaching back into the beginning of our time We have to see where it all began, So we can understand the end of our time And so we flee to the turbulent sea Where the land and the water it splinters It’s no time for high ground or low ground We’ll face the storm at median sea level Am F G E (Chorus) Someone told me where would be a good place to stay I never thought I’ll say it but I’ll go where you go If this is the end of time, I’m spending it with you Hold on to me darling if this is where it ends I love the rain and the spray and the wind And the gale that could split my lip then just add salt It’s the smallest of worries it’s the least thing So if we’re thinking of heaven the time is right now And so we flee to the turbulent sea Where the land and the water it splinters It’s no time for high ground or low ground We’ll face the storm at median sea level Someone told me where would be a good place to stay I never thought I’ll say it but I’ll go where you go If this is the end of time, I’m spending it with you Hold on to me darling if this is where it ends (Am/Dm/G/C…….E/Am….. Middle 8 piano section [waltz]) Am Dm In cracks and rocks where the salt water splits G C Where the water is slick and the angry sea spits Am Dm Over in places where grey buildings frown G C In a city of rocks where the ferry went down Municipal parks and engaging spaces Prowling local dog walkers and beaten up faces There’s some new public art where the Moore was snatched But the town went down when the hippodrome collapsed E Am E Am Come down to the sea & the air, where the land & water splinter E Am E Am Come and take heart in the last Hotel where we’ll be ‘til the end of the Blue Over in North fleet they’ve got casinos And up on the prom line the double stretch limos The fun fair looks blighted, helter-skelter is floored There’s a shadow and cold where the Ferris wheel stalled. CHORUS End refrain Am/F/G/E to fade. (bass hold high A) And so it’s time honey and we’ll take it well, But I’m scared mother and I can’t take it too, So long father you said all you could, Oh my brothers and sisters who have much more to loose. All my friends and acquaintances and unspeakable foes We can sell each other out and it won’t matter a jot. But it’s to you my darling, my angel, my soul that I’ll cling to until ………… the end……………………… of time

Sven Hassel vs Billy the Kid (A/Bm/F/E/…..A/Cm/G/B7) He’s tall and good looking got a head of hair, He’s got the swagger of a cocksman, who just doesn’t care, He can tell you things that you never knew He can tell you all about the secrets of the blue But he’s a man with an empty sack of jokes He won’t even find the time to tell his folks There’s a place in a storm he thinks he go and moor It’s no longer a pointless question of either or. It’s the end of summer it’s the end of the world It’s a time of the locust now that everything’s sold. Can’t seem to shake it off just the ticking clocks. Tell him better times when everything rocks He woke up this morning he was Alexander the Great Went to sleep the same day he was a figure of hate Mel I love you so, I’m a dead Hero? Find a purpose, save the world and fall in love Oh one man’s strychnine is another’s escape He had the brains of a professor and the will of a snake. I want my heart to have it all and save the world. Find absolution, write it down and fall in love.

Slick 04:48
Slick. Em7/B7/Em7………. G/B7……. Em7/C/G/B7 As far as the eye can see, on a stifling doldrums sea, the land and the sea become one, baked together by a relentless sun. We’re drowning in this sea of black In a slick you can see from space. Pelican drags its sticky wings, As the cameras pan the progress, Albatross saved by a mariner, As the doldrums never end. We’re drowning in this sea of black In a slick you can see from space. And the only thing I can hear slick sing is: “where do all the sharks swim now?” They’ll find it sluggish work in a well of slime, stuffed to the gills in crime. As soiled as your philosophy, As dark as your soul is bad, As sick as your fantasy blows, As bland as your ambition goes. We’re drowning in this sea of black In a slick you can see from space. As dense as your eyes are dark, That are black pools of viscous oil, Which grease the labouring wheels, That turns the relentless engine of hell! We’re drowning in this sea of black In a slick you can see from space. Chorus

Some Kinda Reason. Slide in E Right about now when my mind goes blank, I watch the sun as it blinds my eyes, I take on board a whole heap of zip, And I’m here for now on some kinda reason. CHORUS Bring it on home to me, Send it on out to you, Trade it for a bag of reasons, Anytime now some kinda reason. To Hell, Ma Love, wit Chu, Just some Kinda Reason. Last in the pool is the lonely one, First if cool is the one to trust, Pope in the back with a load of smack, Last ever-ever, ever jack. Bring it on home to me, Send it on out to you, Trade it for a bag of reasons, Anytime now some kinda reason. To Hell, Ma Love, wit Chu, Just some Kinda Reason. This party has made my brain a mess Taken a lot of stuff just can’t process A poisoned fog bank my head is in Want something bad, wanna let it win. Final verse Last in the pool is the lonely one, First if cool is the one to trust, Pope in the back with a load of smack, Last ever-ever, ever jack.

Please don’t talk about me when I’m gone (A/C#7/D/E7) - (A/E tremolo) “saudações da cova... (sexta anoitecendo) com licença, agora preciso ir encher a cara!” DRBR Greetings from the grave (Friday Dusk) excuse me now I have to get drunk! Please don’t talk about me when I’m gone Don’t tell anyone who’ll listen, about me Just don’t even think about me when I’m gone Got too much living and too much to die Greetings from the grave (Friday Dusk) Bound up in praise, you’re in my afterlife Greetings from the Grave, we’re all in a funk Excuse me now I have to get drunk! Excuse me one moment you’re in my after light Greetings from the Grave, I’ve invaded your night Somewhere in the dark, is my guiding star? But without a prayer we ain’t going far.

about

This was the Press release at the time in 2012:

The Inca babies release their sixth studio album ’Deep dark Blue’ in November 2012 on their own Black Lagoon Records.
The thirteen songs herald a seasoning of the guitar-driven Incas with surf punk and trash blues sharing space with death rock grunge and end of the world ballads.
Singer/guitarist Harry Stafford leads through a collection of offbeat narratives, tall tales and extravagant characters backed by a no-nonsense rhythm section locked solid in the groove.
From the surging potency of album opener ‘My Sick Suburb’ there’s a fuller sound and a more sophisticated Inca babies on display here: keyboards, pianos and even horns augment the driving sonic guitars to make this album exuberant and uplifting.
‘Following Jorges’ is a mesmeric and insistent as Stafford describes the Hero’s journey to the gallows: drummer Rob Haynes charges ‘Some Kinda Reason’ with an other-worldly frenetic energy and when the bastard blues of ‘Tower of Babel’ blossoms into a glorious trumpet frenzy, it’s a moment of hairs standing up on necks.
It’s the Incas second full-length collection since reforming in 2007 and while ‘Death message Blues’ negotiated the difficult days following original bass player Bill marten’s death, it also won them fans in Milan, Los Angeles, Vilnius and Warsaw for blistering live performances with former A Witness Vince Hunt guesting on Bass guitar.
Having emerged from those shadows, Stafford’s song writing now exudes hope and humour and this album taps fresh energy, consolidates their sound and lays firm foundations for the future.
